3-year-old Logic

Today, around 1:30...

Me: Jaxson, it's nap time - go in the bathroom and go potty.

**Jaxson leaves the room and comes back in**

Me: Are you ready for your nap?

Jaxson: But mommy, I don't need a nap today. I was lookin' in the mirror and my eyes aren't tired!

How do you argue with that?!

California road trip by the NuMbeRs

4 Number of times we had do emergency-pull overs on the freeway so Jaxson could go potty on the side of the road. This was in addition to stopping at a bunch of gas stations along the way. That kid's bladder is the size of a peanut.

3 hours of inconsolable sobbing were heard in our car after we realized we had left Jaxson's beloved blankie and teddy bears at My Grandma's house in Mesquite (5 hours away from where we were at that point).

70 degrees and sunny, all weekend long. Sigh.

6 dollars were spent on Jaxson's chicken nuggets at Disneyland. He fell asleep at the restaurant and never even ate them.

10 people staying in a two room condo in Dana Point -it was so much fun having everyone together and Jaxson is now so bored at home with just me and Wyatt to entertain him all day.

2 naps were taken by Wyatt at Disneyland - miracle of all miracles! This baby never sleeps if there is something interesting going on around him. We were so stressed out about taking him and being those parents you see at places like that with a screaming, miserable baby and he turned out to be an absolute angel!

3 times we rode Buzz Lightyear's astro blaster ride, and 3 times Jaxson was in complete awe. He is at such a fun age to go there because everything is totally real to him.

0 tantrums were thrown the whole trip. Okay, that isn't completely true. The KIDS threw zero tantrums. I threw a minor one the night we got there over milk.

12 hours there ... 12 hours back

Jaxson and his two heroes

The Buzz Lightyear ride. Taking out the evil emporer Zurg is serious business, as you can see.

I love the look on his face in this one!

The reason we took this quick trip was to see Mark's Grandma & Grandpa Bell who are both ill. It was great to see them and spend a little bit of time with them, and introduce them to our boys in person (so far they have just seen pictures).

We stayed in a condo in Dana Point with Cami, Brett and their 3 kids, and Rob. It was so fun to get to spend a day at Disneyland with cousins - who were almost more fun to watch than our own kids!

McKay (he's 5) while eating lunch at Disneyland: "This is the best day of my whole life. Even better than Christmas!"

We also just hung out and spent Saturday at the beach playing in the sand and wiggling our toes in the water. Some of the braver (crazier) people with us went boogie boarding...in the ocean...in the middle of January.

Wait for it....

and then run for your life!!!

Cousins at the beach

Two very crazy, very cold guys (Cami got in, too)

Wyatt soaking up the sun

The joyous reunion.

It felt so nice to get away from everything, even just for a few days. We had so much fun with our boys and it really reminded Mark and I both of how blessed we are. Sorry for the marathon post, but I wanted to make sure we'll remember it all!

Merrrrrry Christmas (late is better than never!)

Jax and the big man
Wyatt just found out he's on the naughty list...

The ninja turtle obsession continues.

The two reasons this was one of the funnest Christmas' ever!

"Girl" Cheese Sandwich

Today, at the Apollo Burger drive up window...

Me: Hey Jax, do you want a grilled cheese sandwich?

Jaxson (totally offended, with scowling eyebrows): Mommy. I want a boy cheese sandwich, not a GIRL cheese sandwich!

Photoshoot

We had our family pictures taken last week - our first real attempt ever. It went pretty well considering it was COLD outside and we had a 3-year-old (who makes some kind of weird face whenever a camera is around) and a 1-year-old to deal with. My friend and neighbor, Keli Blain, took the pictures and she did a fantastic job! Even though THIS is what was actually going on
most of the time...

She managed to get awesome pictures that we love. I think she's so good because she's a mom with 3 little girls, so she knows just how to capture a kid's attention and hold for long enough to snap some perfect shots. Here are a few of my favorites:

Finally!

Jaxson has been waiting and waiting and waiting for some good snow this year. It finally came! As soon as it covered the ground we all had to snow-suit it up and head outside. We didn't think Wyatt would like it very much, but we were wrong. Other than the fact that he couldn't sit up by himself or move his arms, he had a great time. He was in heaven slithering through the snow on his belly.

My little, tiny baby turned one last week. HOW IS HE ALREADY ONE?! I feel like I just barely had this kid. Wyatt is such a fun part of our family. He is very dramatic and is either really happy or really mad - you don't get much of an in between with him. He is a charmer and will stare at people and smile forever until they finally look at him and smile back.

He is a TEASE and already loves to push his parent's buttons. "What?" you say. "He's one, they must be exagerrating!" No we're not. He is so hard to say No to because it is always hilarious and I usually have to hide my smile as I tell him "no no". And tell me how, somehow, down through the genepool Wyatt inherited the exact same expression my older brother used to make all the years he teased and tortured me??? Seriously.

But he is so fun and we love to see him learn new things everyday. He's very passionate about food and loves everything so far (except birthday cake, apparently, as you'll see in the pictures). He worships Jaxson and army-crawls all over the house following him around. It is so cute to see them play together and hear them laughing at eachother. He thinks peekaboo is the funniest thing ever and never gets tired of it. He brings joy and laughter to our home everyday, and I almost can't remember what our lives were like without him! Happy 1st Birthday, Wyatt! We love you!

His favorite present of the day.

I love the expression on his face. "Um...I'm pretty sure that is my book..."

More presents...

This picture pretty much sums up how he felt about his cake.
We got him to pretend he liked it for a minute so we could get a good picture, but he really wanted nothing to do with it.
